Job Overview
Amazon is looking for Software Development Engineers who are passionate, innovative and have a strong drive to automate and simplify. This position reports to the Software Manager for Device Management - Cloud Services within the Global Edge Compute Team and is responsible for software engineering across numerous cloud-based services designed to manage edge devices at scale.
The Global Edge Compute team manages Amazon's edge compute fleet – over 1,000,000 devices across more than 3,000 locations worldwide, including advanced robotics systems and delivery stations. Our systems handle everything from provisioning to operation of edge devices at Amazon scale.

- Ensure nominal operation of cloud services, expand metrics coverage, and uphold operational excellence standards.
We own the infrastructure automation that manages Amazon Stores' compute and device infrastructure. We abstract complex infrastructure with self-service tooling, focusing on simple, decoupled, fault-tolerant solutions to spend more time innovating and less on fixing. The team is tight-knit, operates primarily out of Boston, and collaborates with peers in Austin. This role provides significant scope and can be a stepping stone to further career advancement within Amazon.
BasicQualifications
- 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

CompensationUSA, MA, Reading – – USD annually. Base salary range plus sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
