Position: Sr CGL Claims Technical Consultant (Litigation)

Our Claims team is seeking a Senior Litigation Claims Consultant to manage a portfolio of complex, high‑severity Commercial General Liability (CGL) claims, including litigated matters involving significant financial exposure and legal complexity.

This is a full‑time, exempt position that can be fully remote or hybrid flex. This role owns claims end‑to‑end, partners with top‑tier legal counsel, and plays a critical role in driving claim strategy, financial outcomes, and customer experience.

In this role
  • Independently manage a portfolio of complex, high‑exposure CGL claims, including litigated matters across multiple jurisdictions (premises liability, operations, and product liability claims)
  • Conduct thorough investigations and timely coverage analysis, applying policy language to facts to inform strategy and stakeholder communication
  • Interpret complex indemnity and hold harmless agreements, evaluate additional insured coverage, identify priority of coverage issues, and leverage risk transfer strategies to mitigate exposure in multi‑party, litigated CGL claims
  • Evaluate liability and damages, establish and maintain appropriate indemnity and expense reserves throughout the claim lifecycle
  • Lead and execute litigation strategy by partnering with and directing defense counsel through all phases, including discovery, mediation, arbitration and trial
  • Negotiate and resolve high‑severity claims, leveraging advanced technical expertise to achieve fair, timely and cost‑effective outcomes
  • Identify and pursue risk transfer and subrogation opportunities to mitigate loss exposure and improve financial results
  • Collaborate with internal partners and external experts to support claim resolution, analyze trends and enhance overall claim outcomes
  • Maintain compliant, well‑documented claim files
  • Communicate clearly and timely to all parties (insureds, brokers, and stakeholders) throughout the process
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to develop and strengthen capabilities of the broader claims organization
What you need to apply
  • 5–10+ years of casualty claims experience with an insurance carrier, including complex, high‑severity and litigated CGL claims
  • Experience handling claims with significant exposure ($250K–$1M+)
  • Proven ability to lead litigation strategy and negotiate high‑value settlements
  • Advanced knowledge of coverage interpretation and multi‑jurisdictional legal frameworks
  • Strong financial acumen, including reserving, expense management, and indemnity control
  • Ability to make independent decisions and exercise high authority levels on complex claims
  • Demonstrated analytical reasoning and planning & execution skills to effectively assess problems and deliver well‑prioritized solutions
  • Proven customer centricity and persuasion & influence to align stakeholders, build trust and gain alignment on outcomes
  • Strong digital fluency and professional insurance acumen to leverage technology and apply industry expertise to address complex challenges
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; industry designations (CPCU, AIC, SCLA) or JD are a plus
  • Active adjuster licenses or ability to obtain
