MCU is currently seeking an experienced banking professional to fill the position of AVP/Branch Manager. The AVP/Branch Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the operations and strategic growth of the assigned branch.

Location: TBD. Our branch locations are as follows:

  • Millbury
  • So. Grafton
  • Auburn
  • Worcester:
    Stafford Street and Boylston Street.

Mon
- Fri, Some Saturdays as needed and after-hours events.

Summary: Reports to the Vice President Retail Director or assignee. The AVP / Branch Manager has broad responsibility in generating loans and gathering deposits, managing personnel, and following regulatory compliance, all while supporting the mission statement and branch business plan.

Essential Functions and

Activities:

Member Service

  • Accountable for scheduling, planning, organizing, and overseeing the member services function for the branch including all deposit related product delivery and sales.
  • Responsible for generating business sales calls, as well as follow-up, with current business relationships.
  • Generate individual and coach subordinate sales / referrals in retail, consumer, business, mortgage, investments, etc., in order to meet branch goal objectives as assigned.
  • Ensure opening and closing of Credit Union, following established security guidelines. Keep current on computer capabilities and maintain operating functions according to policy.
  • Handle difficult situations involving members and / or staff in a calm, professional manner. Have autonomy and authority to resolve issues within proper guidelines and according to MCU policy and procedure.
  • Work with Operations to ensure data processing equipment is properly maintained and functions appropriately with the most current software versions made available.
  • Provide a high level of service to new and existing members, including while opening new accounts, performing credit counseling, determining credit needs and solutions, resolving problems, performing wire transfers, telephone transfers, ACH transactions, IRA disbursements, etc.
  • Oversee security measures pertaining to dual control access, opening and closing of Credit Union, safety deposit boxes, employee and member safety, etc. Coach and monitor staff for the same.
  • Responsible for month‑end analysis of budget reports, income / expense, balance sheet, sales tracking reports, and other deposit / loan reports.
  • Interpret legal papers, such as death certificates, power of attorney papers, trust documents, and summons. Process all related transactions according to Credit Union policy and federal / state laws.
  • Generate consumer loans for members (credit cards, LOC, etc.) according to prescribed authority limits and Credit Union policy.
  • Responsible for completing the income and expense budget for upcoming year.
  • Represent the credit union at external events such as Expos, Chamber of Commerce, Seminars, Boards, and Business After Hours as necessary.

Compliance

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures for the entire branch. Remain up to date on all regulatory and legal issues.
  • Monitor appropriate reporting for compliance within area of responsibility for regulation such as BSA, CIP, Identity Theft Red Flags, and others.
  • Accountable for maintaining records according to the Board‑approved records retention schedule.

Department Administration and Other Activities

  • Exercise authority in supervising staff. Train and motivation. Appraise performances. Resolve employee relations issues, up to and including recommendations for dismissal. Establish performance objectives with staff and coach them to reach these goals
