Director of Grant Development
DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO:
Chief Advancement Officer (CAO)
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
Development Office clerical staff, as assigned.
POSITION STATUS:
This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Director of Grant Development is responsible for all grant-related activities for Bristol Community College. This includes overseeing and managing the research, development, approval, and submission of grant proposals, budgets, budget narratives, and other grant related documents and contracts. Additionally, as needed, the Director of Grant Development works with the finance department to support the timely submission for post-award grant- and contract-related documents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Research and Planning
* Work with faculty and staff to conduct research and determine the viability of foundation, state, and federal grant opportunities in alignment with the college's strategic initiatives and financial needs.
* Advise and disseminate information to internal college constituents on potential funding opportunities to support growth in funding base.
* Create, design, and implement processes and procedures related to proposal development, grant writing and grant management.
* Develop and maintain tracking tool to assess the status of each funding opportunity.
* Establish partnerships with other institutions and agencies to develop collaborative funding opportunities.
* Maintain open dialogues with funding agencies and serve as a liaison with funding source program officers.
* Oversee the maintenance of the grant database and provide the College with regular updates on grant development activities.
* Grant Development
* Working collaboratively with program and academic areas, develop and write grant narrative for all grant applications.
* Support development of grant budgets and budget narratives for each grant application submissions
* Develop and manage supporting grant partnership documents such as Memoranda of Understanding, Memoranda of Agreement, Letters of Support, and contractual agreements.
* Manage the grant submission process to ensure proper completion and high quality of proposals for the college.
* Post Award Support
* In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, monitor and evaluate the implementation of funded projects ensuring that all projects stay on task, on time and within budget
* Maintain processes and procedures for maintaining all required records and documents related to funded projects.
* In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, work in partnership with Risk Management Director and Special Grants Accountant to oversee the timely and accurate submission of required funder reports, both qualitative and financial.
* Additional Responsibilities
* Oversee the organization of grant knowledge base including correspondence, reports, records, memoranda, and other related department documents.
* Serve on appropriate college committees, attend meetings, and represent the College externally as appropriate.
* Serve as a member of the Massachusetts Statewide Grant Administrator's Council as well as serving as a member of the CONNECT partnership.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, English or other appropriate discipline.
* Substantial experience (4+ years) in grant research, development, and writing
* Knowledge and experience with budget planning and development with a high level of proficiency in MS Excel.
* Demonstrated experience in securing public and private grants.
* High level of attention to detail
* High level of dependability and reliability
* Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to effectively work within a deadline driven environment.
* Excellent writing and editing skills including proper use of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. High level of expertise in MS Word.
