About the OpportunityA growing advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Tank & Welding Supervisor to lead first‑shift operations across two major fabrication departments. This role oversees the production of ASME‑certified pressure vessels
, including heavy wall and light wall welded tanks used in industrial and commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
You will be the on‑floor welding expert‑responsible for driving production performance, ensuring quality compliance, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and developing a team of highly skilled welders and fitters.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of ~20 welders, fitters, and robot welding operators across two tank fabrication lines.
- Ensure all welding and fabrication meets ASME Section VIII code requirements.
- Oversee day‑to‑day production: scheduling, labor management, workflow, safety, and output targets.
- Conduct welding parameter audits and ensure accurate ERP transactions for materials and scrap.
- Review engineering drawings and provide feedback to improve manufacturability and weldability.
- Design welding fixtures and troubleshoot fabrication challenges as the department's technical expert.
- Drive continuous improvement through Kaizen
, 5S
, and process optimization. - Maintain safe operations, equipment readiness, and proper use of PPE and lifting devices.
- Mentor and upskill welders through training, cross‑training, and hands‑on guidance.
- 10+ years of ASME pressure vessel welding & fabrication experience.
- 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory role within heavy metal fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in FCAW, GMAW, and SAW welding processes.
- Strong ability to read and troubleshoot complex fabrication drawings.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and hands‑on problem‑solving ability.
- Experience driving process improvements and leading teams in a production environment.
- Preferred: AWS certification, OSHA 30, Lean Manufacturing experience.
- Lead production for a critical, technically complex product line.
