Programs & Communications Associate:
Arts Initiatives Description

The Programs & Communications Associate supports the Greater Lowell Community Foundation’s arts portfolio — Mosaic Lowell and Arts Elevate — along with foundation-wide marketing and strategy work. This role keeps two of GLCF’s most visible community-facing programs running smoothly through meeting coordination, event logistics, communications, and partner follow-through, and contributes to broader foundation marketing efforts. The Associate is a critical connector across program leads, partners, artists, and the communities GLCF serves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Coordination & Meeting Support:
Schedule and coordinate meetings with internal team members, nonprofit partners, embedded artists, and advisory groups; prepare agendas, capture meeting notes, track action items, and follow up on commitments; maintain shared project documentation, timelines, and program calendars.
  • Event Logistics:
Support planning and execution of program events including showcases, training sessions, community gatherings, and partner convenings; coordinate vendors, venues, registration, materials, signage, and day‑of logistics; manage post‑event documentation and follow‑up.
  • Communications & Content:
Develop and maintain a unified social media content calendar across Mosaic Lowell and Arts Elevate; draft program briefs, project updates, and short‑form copy for the GLCF newsletter; coordinate collection of visual assets (photos, short video) from program activities and events; ensure all communications align with GLCF and program brand standards and use asset‑focused, community‑centered language.
  • Partner & Stakeholder Follow‑up:
Track partner commitments and deliverables across grant cycles and active program activities; manage outreach and follow‑up communications with nonprofit partners, artists, and grantees; maintain contact lists, distribution lists, and stakeholder records in coordination with the grants manager.
  • Foundation Marketing & Strategy Support:
Support GLCF on cross‑foundation marketing and communications projects; contribute to foundation‑wide initiatives that intersect with the arts and other program areas; assist with special projects, campaign‑related deliverables, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in program coordination, communications, events, or nonprofit administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities across program leads.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar, Gmail), Canva, Word Press, project management tools, social media platforms, and email marketing systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in arts, culture, community engagement, or nonprofit work.
Preferred
  • Experience in a community foundation, nonprofit, or arts/cultural organization.
  • Familiarity with grant cycles and grantee communications.
  • Connection to Greater Lowell’s 21 communities.
  • Experience drafting copy for newsletters, social media, and event materials.
  • Multilingual capacity (Khmer, Spanish, Portuguese, or other languages spoken in Greater Lowell) is a plus.
Skills & Attributes
  • Detail‑oriented and follow‑through‑focused.
  • Self‑directed and comfortable working across multiple program leads with different working styles.
  • Collaborative, relationship‑centered approach to partners and communities.
  • Grounded in asset‑focused, equity‑centered framing.
  • Adaptable, with strong judgment about when to act independently and when to check in.
