Land Stewardship Coordinator - Terra/Ameri Corps Service
Ameri Corps Service Member Position with Terra Corps & Sudbury Valley Trustees
Terra Corps is a nonprofit organization working at the intersection of land conservation, sustainable farming, and local food systems to build local nonprofit capacity while growing the next generation of emerging leaders committed to making a difference at the community level. We value the power of local nonprofits to best understand and serve their communities, and our goal is to help them succeed by providing them access to the Ameri Corps national service model to build organizational capacity.
Terra Corps partners with a network of nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of Ameri Corps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they learn to manage community programs and projects over a 1,700-hour service term.
The 2026–27 service year runs September 8, 2026, to July 30, 2027.
Sudbury Valley Trustees is interviewing candidates for a Land Stewardship Coordinator (LSC). The LSC will engage with the Director of Land Management to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects. Potential projects include:
- Use the newly acquired 108-acre Miscoe Woods property to build community partnerships and engage local residents in the stewardship of this new conservation area.
- Build partnerships with bird and butterfly organizations to develop educational programs and volunteer training opportunities that support regional nature monitoring through SVT and the Metrowest Conservation Alliance.
- Support stewardship staff and volunteers by organizing trainings and volunteer workdays focused on trail stewardship, invasive species management, environmental monitoring, and volunteer leadership roles on SVT properties (Preserve Stewards, Weed Warriors, and Trail Stewards).
Applications for this position must be submitted via the Terra Corps online application. The position description for the LSC at Sudbury Valley Trustees can be found at Terra Corps Available Member Positions.
