STATUS: $30/hour (part‑time, 15 hours/week)
START DATE:

For eight seasons, Great Barrington Public Theater (GBPT) has been creating bold, original theater right here in the Berkshires. Our mission is to develop and produce new plays with a focus on playwrights and theater artists living in and nearby the Berkshires. GBPT's productions spark conversation, curiosity, and connection – and we're looking for a relationship‑driven fundraiser who wants to help us sustain and grow that work.
Aboutthe Role
As our Part‑Time Development Manager, you'll be the dedicated relationship‑builder for our mid‑level donor community—individuals giving between $1,500 and $10,000 annually. You'll be part of a small, passionate team building something special in the Berkshires—a theater that supports artists, inspires audiences, and makes new work happen. This is a six‑month contract position with strong potential to become a permanent role in the organization.
This role is perfect for someone who is equal parts people‑person, organized doer, and genuine arts advocate—someone who believes in the power of connecting donors to the work they make possible.
What You'll Do- Manage a select portfolio of donors ($1,500–$10,000 giving range), serving as their primary point of contact
- Develop individualized stewardship plans that include personal outreach, impact updates, and meaningful touchpoints throughout the year
- Draft personalized acknowledgment letters, cultivation communications, and donor impact updates in collaboration with the Managing Director and Artistic Directors
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date donor records and contact notes in our donor database
- Identify donors showing signals of upgrade potential and flag them for deeper major gift conversations
- Prospect new donors
- Collaborate with program staff to gather compelling stories and data to share with donors
- Coordinate logistics for small donor cultivation events and behind‑the‑scenes experiences
- Track and report on portfolio metrics, including retention rates, upgrade activity, and engagement
Who You Are
A warm, authentic relationship‑builder who genuinely loves connecting people to causes they care about
A strong communicator—comfortable with personal phone calls, handwritten notes, and purposeful emails
Organized and self‑directed, able to manage a donor portfolio with minimal supervision
Excited to work closely with a small, collaborative arts organization
2–4 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or donor relations (experience in the arts or cultural sector a plus)
Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems preferred
