OverviewDelivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Administers and monitors patient responses to all medications. Directs and guides patient care, teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing within the realm of Hospital Policy. Maintains and delivers the highest quality customer service standards.
Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process in caring for patients by maintaining relevant, accurate, and current patient records as evidenced by Nursing PI activities.
- Document assessment of the patient throughout the Hospital admission including physical, psychological, social dimensions and discharge plans. Summarize assessment data and initiate plan of care with communication of pertinent data to allied patient care providers as evidenced by Nursing PI activities.
- Perform the charge nurse role assuming and demonstrating proficiency.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems).
- Serve as resource person regarding patient care, orientation, and teaching staff.
- Participate in at least four-unit staff meetings yearly, attend mandatory programs, and obtain three hours of Patient Care Assessment Committee (PCAC) credit annually.
- Participate in identifying the aspects of patient care and indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and evaluate that care. Adhere to safety, blood/body fluid policies, and procedures.
- Assess personal learning development needs and maintain documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly update knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the age of the patient served. Show willingness to participate in Nursing Committees.
- Represent the hospital in the community and within the hospital while maintaining confidentiality regarding patients and hospital matters and present the hospital in a manner that best markets the services provided.
- Perform other work‑related duties and activities as assigned or requested by the immediate supervisor.
- Consistently provide service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co‑workers.

Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Must read, write, and communicate in English.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 90 days; offered within.
- Pass CCHC Pharmacology Exam prior to start date.
- Pass CCHC Basic Arrhythmia Exam prior to start date.
- Two years (within last five years) nursing experience in at least one of the following:
Critical Care (ICU, CVICU), Emergency Department, SDC/PACU, Acute Cardiac Unit/Stepdown. - Demonstrated skills in IV administration and telemetry monitoring.
- Complete Intra‑Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) course within six months; offered within.
- Preferred:
Current Cardiovascular interventional nursing experience within last 5 years. - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). - Preferred:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN). - Use of lead apron required.
- On‑call required for off‑shift, weekends and holidays.
- Per diem:
Two years previous CVPA experience required.
32 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days (7a‑3:30p, 8a‑4:30p, 9a‑5:30p). On call required in rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays. Use of lead apron required.
