SSTAR is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which affords our employees eligibility to apply for one of our three Loan Repayment Programs.

The Nurse Practitioner works with clinical staff to assess mental health treatment needs for our inpatient/substance use population. The Nurse Practitioner will administer substance use assessments and develop addiction treatment plans for our SUD clients in conjunction with our Clinical team.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients by collecting a comprehensive multidimensional medical assessment of each client, including mental status, current functioning, medication reconciliation, treatment history allergies, drug/alcohol use and medical and mental health history.
  • Review detoxification protocols and make amendments as necessary.
  • Enters data and maintains integrity of records.
  • Manages acute medical issues that can be treated in detoxification setting.
  • Monitors chronic medical conditions.
  • Refer to medical PCP, chief medical officer, and/or psychiatric provider for issues cannot be managed in the detoxification setting.
  • Works in collaboration with the Inpatient treatment team, including attending daily team meetings.
  • Refer to a higher level of care when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Massachusetts's licensure to practice in the expanded nursing role.
  • Possess or obtain prescription privileges in Massachusetts.
  • Valid DEA and Mass Controlled Certificates.
  • Experience working with mental health and addiction issues.
