Job Description
Staff Nurse / Registered Nurse (8 hours/week, 9 month position)
The registered nurse working for University Health Services provides physical, psychological, and emotional care on a 10-bed inpatient unit and assesses and treats walk‑in patients in an emergent/urgent care setting.
Responsibilities- Provide care on the 10-bed inpatient unit and in the emergent/urgent care setting.
- Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport and understanding patient needs.
- Follow the nursing process and perform thorough nursing assessments, provide first‑aid treatment, and communicate findings to treating practitioners.
- Coordinate treatment with a multidisciplinary team—including physicians, nurses, administration, counseling, BC Police Department, and emergency rooms—to arrange referrals, tests, transportation, and admissions.
- Resolve patient needs using team strategies and provide counseling on health‑care practices and prescribed treatment.
This is an 8 hour per week/non‑benefit eligible position.
The schedule involves 7‑3 or 3‑11 shifts every OTHER weekend during the academic year.
Each staff member in the Division of Student Affairs is expected to support division and university‑wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.
CompensationHiring Range: $42.91/hr to $53.65/hr pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements- Registered Nurse with MA license.
- At least three years of experience in an ambulatory, emergency, or college health setting.
- Some electronic medical record/computer experience required.
