Job Shift: Swing – Monday to Friday, 12pm-8pm

We are looking for compassionate Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) with a heart for patients and families. The CNA will serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group Team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide various services that meet patients’ personal needs and promote comfort.

Our Sweet Dreams Program is a unique initiative designed to help patients relax and increase the chance of a restful night’s sleep.

• Spend quality one‑on‑one time with patients and their families to support everyday needs.
• Provide direct patient care, including paths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampooing, and changing bed linen as often as needed.
• Conduct bedtime care, including personal hygiene regimens.
• Administer aroma therapy and gentle touch.
• Apply lotion rubs to hands and feet.
• Perform personal care tasks after an assignment and attend to patient requests promptly; report inability to perform a task to the Case Manager.
• Use positive communication techniques, maintaining confidentiality and ethical care.
• Assist patients in dressing and undressing.
• Record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Assess and report changes in patient condition to the Case Manager.
• Assist patients with ambulation and exercise.
• Respect the patient and family environment and personal needs.
• Provide respite for patient families/caregivers on‑site as appropriate.
• Maintain the patient’s living area clean and orderly.
• Follow documentation and care procedures and standards of conduct.
• Participate in quality assessment and performance‑improvement activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Certification of Nursing Assistant in compliance with Massachusetts state regulations.
• Minimum 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training.
• Preferred:
  At least one year of experience as an aide in community health, hospice, or medical/surgical settings.
• Licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order (must meet organization/state requirements).
• Willingness to undergo a criminal background check before hire and annually thereafter.
• Current CPR certification.

• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort in providing specialized care to the terminally ill.
• Ability to work autonomously with little direct supervision.
• Demonstrated tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
• Effective communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of plan‑of‑care documentation.
• Flexibility in work hours to align with patient care plans.
• Ability to empathize with the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
• Comfortable addressing issues of death and dying.
• Calm demeanor when entering a patient’s home.
