Veterinary Technician or Assistant - Cape​/Centerville Animal Shelter Clinic

Position Overview

Full-time 40 hours per week position, Monday – Friday. Sign on bonus for CVTs!

The hourly pay rate will be determined based on skill level. Assistant level pay rates range from $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. Certified Technician level pay rates range from $24.00 - $32.00 per hour with a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates with additional experience or credentials may receive compensation aligned with their qualifications.

We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician to assist with procedures for homeless animals at our adoption center and with owned patients from our low-cost community clinic. Duties include assisting staff veterinarian with procedures and treatments required to ensure and maintain the health of homeless animals awaiting adoption, examination, vaccination, and medical testing of incoming animals. The position also includes surgical monitoring for spays/neuters, dentals, and other surgical procedures for animals awaiting adoption and for patients seen in the community clinic for low income clients.

The clinic averages 125 owned patients a month, offering exposure to a diversity of surgical and medical cases rarely seen in private practice.

At least one year of experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician. If applying for the technician position, certification is required. Experience in anesthesia monitoring is strongly encouraged. Proficiency in Spanish is also strongly encouraged. Please detail your animal care experience in your cover letter.
