Waltham Place Farm is seeking a passionate vegetable grower to join our team. Known for our strong reputation within the organic and biodynamic farming community, we supply our farm shop, local restaurants, and run a variety of outreach and public engagement activities. This is an exceptional opportunity to work in a stunning 220-acre biodynamic estate, home to diverse wildlife, woodlands, ornamental gardens, a market garden, kitchen garden, and polytunnel.

About

The Role

You will help manage and develop our productive market garden and kitchen garden areas, growing high-quality organic produce for sale and community use. Working as part of a small, supportive horticultural team, you will take responsibility for day-to-day growing operations, contribute to seasonal planning, and participate in our public-facing activities. Some tractor work will be required as part of wider garden and land-based tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Growing a diverse range of organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers for the farm shop and local restaurants
  • Working across the market garden, kitchen garden, and polytunnels
  • Implementing biodynamic practices throughout the gardens
  • Seed saving, propagation, crop care, and garden maintenance
  • Tractor tasks including bed preparation, compost handling, and seasonal fieldwork
  • Maintaining records, planning rotations, and supporting ongoing improvements in soil and plant health
  • Engaging with the public during tours, workshops, and outreach events
  • Working collaboratively within a motivated and supportive team
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Organic horticulture experience
  • Strong interest in agroecology and regenerative practices
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Motivation, reliability, and a proactive, positive attitude
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
Desirable
  • Biodynamic growing experience
  • Knowledge of seed saving and plant conservation
  • Experience working with volunteers, visitors, or community groups
