Research Assistant – Non-Lab

Overview

This role is with the Harvard–MIT Center for Regulatory Science, focusing on regulatory science research and related clerical duties, supporting projects at the intersection of science, medicine, public health, and regulatory policy. The position provides hands-on experience in a cross-disciplinary team working with investigators and partners across academia, industry, and government.

• Extracts and curates data from regulatory documents and related sources following established protocols, using structured review, database queries, library research, and other methods.
• Records and codes data according to project requirements, maintaining well-documented and reproducible datasets.
• Conducts statistical analyses and processes, and summarizes data using a range of scientific, spreadsheet, and statistical software applications.
• Assists in the design of studies, experiments, and analyses as part of a team or under supervision.
• Provides periodic project-status reports to the supervisor and research team members.
• Performs clerical duties incidental to research tasks and may help plan research meetings and events.

• Computational lab environment with collaboration on data analysis and publication.

• Work performed on a laptop or computer in a computational lab environment.

• College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline.
• At least one year of related work experience (relevant coursework may count).

• A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as biomedical sciences, public health, data science, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior undergraduate research experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with statistical software or programming languages such as R or Python is preferred. Knowledge of basic research methods and statistics is helpful but not required. Proficiency with applicable computer technologies and software may be required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Candidates with interests in biomedical research, public health, translational medicine, data science, health policy, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

• Appointment End Date: This is a term position with an end date of August 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension contingent on performance and funding.

  35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
