Account Management Overview
Account Management is responsible for managing the success of the relationship with an assigned set of customers in order to achieve the goals and objectives identified by the customer and Cardinal Health. The role involves long‑term relationship building between the customer, Cardinal Health, and other professional organizations (Group Purchasing Organizations, Carriers, etc.). The complexity of the solution, product, or services offered is variable and can range from simple to moderately complex selling.
Job SummaryThe Consultant, Territory Management has full responsibility for account management and new business development of the radio pharmacy and nuclear portfolio including pharmaceutical and IT services offerings. The role maximizes profitable sales opportunities by understanding the complexities of their respective channel(s) of business and the unique needs of key customers. Responsibilities also include educating customers on Cardinal Health products, providing client and team support and training, and managing special projects as needed.
The Consultant leads the management of the client relationship and associated strategies related to retention, contract management, revenue growth, profitability, expansion and overall account performance.
- Develop a comprehensive growth strategy for the assigned territory of business that is aligned with customer objectives, financial position, and employee benefit strategy while providing cross‑sell opportunities and profitable revenue and growth to Cardinal Health.
- Grow and manage a balanced pipeline across an assigned territory to achieve new business revenue objectives.
- Provide Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback to internal Cardinal Health functions.
- Partner with other functional areas and operational teams to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of products to clients.
- Effectively build a year‑over‑year track record of consistent performance and accountability using multiple sales approaches and managing complex sales contracts.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Prior sales experience required (ideally 4‑7 years, solutions or service‑based selling strongly preferred).
- Experience in a customer‑facing role, ability to create and develop relationships inside and outside the customer base.
- Excel proficiency required.
- Ability to travel as needed; travel may fluctuate on a weekly/monthly basis across the territory.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge and a thorough understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks and projects.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
- Work on complex projects of large scope.
- Develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
- Deliver innovative solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives.
- Complete work independently with general guidance on new projects.
- Have work reviewed to ensure objectives are met.
- Possibly act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.
$133,000 - $164,300 (includes targeted variable pay).
