You'll work with qualified leads provided by the agency, building rapport with prospective clients and learning about their business, operations and risk exposures. You'll combine your insurance expertise and consultative sales skills to understand business risks, develop tailored coverage solutions, and guide customers from initial conversation through quote and binding.

Essential duties may include:

  • Respond to qualified leads, build rapport, and develop trusted relationships throughout the sales process.
  • Conduct discovery to understand each client's business, risk exposures, insurance needs, and opportunities for additional coverage.
  • Gather underwriting information, prepare submissions, and work with carrier markets and underwriters to secure competitive coverage and terms.
  • Analyze quotes and develop clear, client-focused proposals that effectively communicate coverage options, limits, deductibles, and value.
  • Follow up with prospects, address questions and objections, and guide opportunities through quoting, closing, and binding.
  • Achieve established sales and production goals while identifying cross-selling opportunities and maintaining complete, accurate documentation.

Build relationships & provide insurance expertise:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier underwriters and marketing representatives.
  • Stay current on commercial insurance products, coverage trends, underwriting appetite and market conditions.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of commercial insurance coverages, forms, limits and rating concepts.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide a seamless experience from initial lead through policy issuance and ongoing service.

Support an existing book of business:

  • Responding to client questions and routine service requests.
  • Assisting with renewals and remarketing when appropriate.
  • Reviewing accounts for coverage gaps and additional opportunities.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete account documentation.

Required:

  • Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience.
  • Active P&C license or ability to obtain one within an established timeframe.
  • Experience with commercial insurance quoting, marketing and/or placement.
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, forms, limits and rating concepts.
  • Ability to understand a customer's business and identify potential risk exposures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and consultative sales skills.
  • Strong follow-up, organization and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple leads and opportunities while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of Commercial Lines insurance experience, particularly with small to middle-market accounts.
  • Previous experience in inside sales, account management, account executive or insurance sales.
  • Experience working directly with commercial insurance carriers and underwriters.
  • Experience with Applied EPIC or similar agency management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of small-business commercial insurance products and exposures.
  • Industry designations such as CIC, CPCU, CISR or CRIS are a plus.

This is a salaried, consultative sales position. Employees are also eligible for a team-based incentive when department goals are exceeded, rewarding the collective success of the team rather than an individual commission-based sales structure.

Our current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual salary or hourly wage range for this position is approximately $71,000 ($36.00 an hour) - $82,000 ($42.00 an hour) based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience.
