Public Safety Supervisor

Hours: 40 hrs per week.

Shift: Day shift, 6:45 am – 3:15 pm with weekend and holiday rotation.

Location: Charlton Memorial Hospital – Fall River, MA.

Under general supervision of department leadership, this position is responsible for the overall command and leadership of a shift work‑group within the department. Provides mentorship, guidance and front‑line supervision to Public Safety Officers, including sworn personnel, in the performance of all duties and responsibilities related to the day‑to‑day protection and security of Southcoast Health System assets and the safety of all persons on hospital property.

Also responsible for basic healthcare public safety duties, as well as enforcement of the criminal laws of Massachusetts as a Special State Police Officer under MGL 22C‑63 or New Bedford Special Police Officer. The position may have additional responsibilities assigned by the Operations Manager and Executive Director of Public Safety & Emergency Management and may require rotation to other hospital sites as needed.

• Minimum of three years of experience in security (preferably healthcare), law enforcement or military, with at least two years in a supervisory position.
• Proficiency with Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, and Excel; knowledge of facilities management and security alarm systems.
• Ability to lawfully possess a firearm for law enforcement employment.
• Basic, Advanced, and Supervisor certificates from the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) are preferred.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Strong preference for a license as a Special State Police Officer under MA General Laws Chapter 22C‑63.
• Must meet all training and other requirements for continued licensure if licensed.
• Ability to obtain IAHSS Basic Officer, Advanced Officer, and Supervisor training certification within one year of eligibility.
• Required certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) De‑Escalation Training; OC Pepper (OCAT), Handcuffing (PATH), Baton (PPBT) education and training.
• IAHSS Supervisor Certification within one year of hire or promotion.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID‑19, or provide a medical or personal exemption statement upon hire.

Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.

Pay Range: USD $26.26 – $35.86 per hour.
