Job Overview

Mobile Diesel Technician II – Individual Contributor – DOT Management Level

Location:

Must reside in specified city, state, or region. Flexible work option; can work remotely.

Travel: 100% of the time.

Work Shift:

Saturday – Wednesday. Compensation: $29.42–$44.13 per hour, hourly base rate may vary. Potential additional compensation may include commission and incentive programs. New hire bonus: $3,000 (50% after 30 days, 50% after 180 days).

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Additional tasks include:

  • Minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment – electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and other mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair various truck systems using test instruments and road tests.
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate equipment malfunctions, documenting findings.
  • Manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and coordinate parts orders from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicles, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients and customers, addressing needs and resolving issues.
  • Document all work on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS devices and the TRAIT application, uploading pictures of work performed.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Work independently, manage daily schedule, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  • Correctly comply with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Possess a set of hand tools required for the duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
  • Possess a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining, or provide a DOT physical.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Required Certifications (to be obtained within 18 months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI)
  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain)
  • ASE T4 (Brakes)
  • ASE T5 (Suspension)
  • ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems)
  • ASE T7 (HVAC)
  • ASE 608/609 (Diesel Fuel)
