Diesel Technician Apprentice-Paid Training

POSITION SUMMARY

At Republic Services, Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. A Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks. The Technician Apprenticeship program will train an entry level technician over a two-year period in the following:

• Electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems.
• Air conditioning & heating component identification & inspection.
• Wheel end assembly component identification & inspection.
• Air system component identification & inspection.
• Air brakes component identification & inspection.
• Hydraulics component identification and inspection.
• Truck preventative maintenance.

The Republic Services Technician Apprenticeship program offers opportunities across the United States for a Technician Apprentice. This training program includes nine weeks of company‑paid training at our Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by twenty‑two months of on‑the‑job training while working toward Apprentice certification as a Republic Services entry‑level Diesel Mechanic. Accelerated candidates who demonstrate advanced development can move to a Level C Technician in advance of the twenty‑two‑month requirement.

After completion, apprentices will receive guidance from a dedicated mentor and will be placed in one of our business units nationwide, with direct supervision from a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor or Manager. Apprentices acquire skills in routine preventive maintenance, tires, wheel end components, mechanical skills, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Pay increase after graduation and with promotion to Tech
