Technician I General Statement of Duties

The Maintenance Technician I performs entry‑level mechanical, preventative maintenance, repair, inspection, and support duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Facility, pumping stations, lift stations, stormwater systems, combined sewer overflow (CSO) facilities, and associated infrastructure and equipment.

The Maintenance Technician I works under the direction of higher‑level maintenance personnel and management staff while learning industrial maintenance practices, wastewater equipment systems, safety procedures, and maintenance operations necessary to support safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations.

The Maintenance Technician I may be required to assist with operations, maintenance, emergency response, stormwater operations, combined sewer overflow (CSO) activities, public works support activities, and other City or Project‑related functions associated with the operation and maintenance agreement between the Company and the City of Fall River.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, and process equipment associated with wastewater treatment and related facilities.
  • Performs routine inspections, maintenance, lubrication, oil changes, cleaning, and servicing of pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, valves, conveyors, generators, drives, chemical feed systems, and related equipment.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and repair activities utilizing tools, gauges, meters, and diagnostic equipment common to the trade.
  • Performs mechanically related activities specified by work orders and maintenance schedules.
  • Assists with removing, reinstalling, cleaning, and testing new, repaired, or rebuilt equipment.
  • Operates hand tools, power tools, grinders, and maintenance equipment in a safe manner and within training/certification requirements.
  • Operates facility vehicles, forklifts, hoists, and other maintenance equipment in a safe manner and within training/certification requirements.
  • Assists with welding, fabrication, machining, and metalworking activities as directed.
  • Maintains accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, equipment histories, inventory records, and related documentation.
  • Assists operations personnel and higher‑level maintenance staff with troubleshooting and operational support activities as required.
  • Assists with stormwater, pumping station, CSO, and related municipal utility maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Supports emergency response operations including weather events, flooding, equipment failures, utility interruptions, public emergencies, and other operational incidents.
  • Assists City personnel and other departments when operational or maintenance support is required under the Project agreement.
  • Participates in snow and ice operations, emergency staffing, and other public works support activities when assigned.
