The organization is a long‑standing technology company with a 30‑year history and a modern, startup‑like culture built on collaboration, ownership, and innovation. Its teams are driven by the impact of empowering customers through reliable, scalable, and forward‑thinking technology. The reliable delivery across engineering.

The organization is seeking a Senior Manager of Platform Engineering to lead a mission‑critical team responsible for the company‑wide deployment platform, Dev Ops enablement, cloud infrastructure, and a growing set of AI‑driven initiatives. This leader will guide a team of 7–8 engineers within a 16‑engineer department, providing oversight of Platform Engineers, a Developer, and the NOC sub‑team. They will define platform strategy, drive operational excellence, and champion a culture grounded in autonomy, technical clarity, and continuous improvement.

This is a high‑impact role for someone who thrives in cloud‑native environments, enjoys shaping platform direction, and excels at hands‑on leadership across distributed teams.

Team Mission

The Platform Engineering team is responsible for:

  • Owning and maintaining the platform used organization‑wide for deployment, delivery, and infrastructure automation.
  • Increasing delivery velocity and improving operational efficiency across Dev Ops and infrastructure functions.
  • Advancing the company’s AI‑forward engineering initiatives by embedding new tools, workflows, and automation capabilities.
  • Supporting stability and uptime through shared responsibility with the NOC sub‑team.
What This Leader Will Do
  • Define and evolve the roadmap for the internal deployment and infrastructure platform, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Prioritize work to maximize impact on developer velocity, reliability, and scalability.
  • Treat the platform as an internal product with clear value, metrics, and adoption goals.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide architectural guidance across Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD, observability, and automation.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks, system gaps, and inefficiencies — converting them into durable, scalable solutions.
  • Lead the introduction of chaos engineering into the organization to strengthen resilience.
  • Drive the adoption of modern AI‑enhanced engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, CoDev, Claude) to accelerate workflows and operational intelligence.
  • Manage 7–8 direct reports, including Platform Engineers and a Developer, while providing oversight of the NOC function.
  • Serve as a hands‑on line manager focused on coaching, growth, accountability, and empowerment.
  • Guide a distributed, potentially international team with clarity, communication, and purpose.
  • Foster a high‑trust environment where engineers take ownership and drive proactive improvements.
Operational & Organizational Enablement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, security, compliance, architecture, and leadership to ensure the platform meets evolving organizational needs.
  • Enhance observability, monitoring, and reliability practices across the platform stack.
  • Support on‑call rotations by contributing expert guidance when needed.
Who They Are Required Background
  • 3–4+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with a track record of hands‑on technical leadership.
  • Strong background in AWS cloud environments.
  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes and infrastructure automation.
  • Working knowledge of ArgoCD, Helm, and modern CI/CD pipelines (Argo preferred).
  • Experience with observability systems (specific stack flexible).
  • Ability to diagnose complex system issues and drive structured problem‑solving.
  • Comfort with — and advocacy for — AI‑powered engineering workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bring technical clarity to complex topics.
  • Experience supporting distributed or international teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
