Aircraft Mechanic ALSS - NAWDC GT

Responsibilities

• Perform organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance on aircraft, components and equipment.
• Inspect, test, repair, modify and troubleshoot assigned aircraft, including propulsion actuated devices and cartridge actuated devices.
• Pack, unpack, preserve and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits; repair, fit, maintain and preserve pilots’ personal equipment.
• Issue and receive aircrew survival equipment; initiate and update checkout/return records.
• Assemble, place in service and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets and related safety/survival equipment.
• Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment; identify and treat corrosion.
• Brief and debrief aircrew on use and condition of survival equipment.
• Maintain FOD, hazardous waste, and tool control programs.

• Qualified PR “A” School graduate or Air Force school graduate per COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series.
• Minimum of three years within the last five years practical experience at the organizational or intermediate level.
• Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
• Qualified according to field of expertise and level of maintenance assigned; recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, MH-60S aircraft required.
• High degree of expertise of aircraft systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, special tools and test equipment.
• Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
• Prior military personnel must present a DD214 with an honorable character of service discharge.
• Customer‑oriented.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Government Clearance (US citizenship required).
• Valid state driver’s license.
• High school diploma.

• Formal or specialized training or equivalent.
• Hazardous waste communication training.
• FOD and TCP awareness training.
• Security clearance awareness training.
• Program awareness: COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2, ISO 9001‑2000.
• OOMA/NALCOMIS trained.
• ESD trained.
• Support equipment operator’s license.
• Collateral duty inspector.
• Egress system checkout.
• Non‑nuclear ordnance explosive handling certified.
• Plane captain qualified.
• Aircraft towing certified.
• Aircraft brake rider certified.
• Operational risk management training.
• Fuel surveillance trained.
• Thorough working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment.

Hourly rate: $60.66 (set by CBA/SCA). Competitive benefits package.
