Aircraft Mechanic‑Avionics

Responsibilities:

  • Perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot‑level maintenance including inspection, operational test, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other employees.
  • Test and troubleshoot weapons systems, complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems, communication/navigation systems, electronic flight control, fuel, power generators, power distribution systems, lighting systems, flight instrument and fuel systems, temperature and pressure indicating, engine and control indications, ATFLIR, Electronic Counter Measures, and RADAR systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance during aircrew debriefs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications and procedures, and applicable safety manuals.
  • Work in a hangar/shop/flight line environment that requires physical movements and postures; may lift objects up to 70 pounds.
  • Operate safely in variable weather, high‑noise hazards, fumes or airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards; may perform off‑site service on assigned detachments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum three years’ experience.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Qualification according to field of expertise and level of maintenance assigned.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain any company or government‑required qualifications, certifications, licensing, or clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior military personnel must present a DD‑214 with an honorable character of service discharge.
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent experience with F‑18A‑F, EA‑18G, E‑2C, or F‑16 aircraft.
  • High degree of expertise in aircraft systems, avionics theory, and applications.
  • In‑depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of detection, prevention, and treatment of corrosion.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft subsystems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti‑icing, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
  • Customer‑oriented attitude.
Licensing, Certification, and Training Requirements
  • Formal/Specialized Training or Equivalent Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA Training.
  • ESD Training.
  • Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, Mobile Start Unit).
  • Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft).
  • Egress System Checkout Plane Captain Qualification.
  • Aircraft Towing Certification.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certification.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Training.
Compensation

Hourly rate: $54.47 (Hourly rate set by CBA). The position includes a competitive benefits package.
