Overview
The F-16A/B/C or D Aircraft Mechanic Egress (AME) – Aircrew Egress System Specialist is a Technical School graduate mechanic who performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.
Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, and Air Force manufacturer and company distributors. Responsible for all egress system on and off equipment maintenance on F-16A/B/C or D models.
- Removes, transports, inspects, repairs and reinstalls F-16A/B/C or D ejection seats.
- Inspects, repairs and cleans seat harnesses.
- Inventories, stores, removes and replaces seat CAD/PAD explosive items.
- Maintains environmental system on F-16A/B/C or D models.
- Maintains, inspects canopy explosive devices F-16A/B/C or
D. - Maintains and inspects on-board oxygen generating system (OBOGS) or Liquid Oxygen (LOX).
- Performs aircraft scheduled/unscheduled on- and off-equipment maintenance.
- Performs aircraft corrosion control procedures (wash, wipe down, polish, vacuum).
- Operates GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as required.
- Drives tugs for towing equipment and aircraft.
- Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft forms and VIDS/MAF System.
- Orders aircraft/equipment parts.
- Supervises/assists in aircraft/equipment movement and flight line foreign object prevention walks.
- Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention and safety at all times.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Works in hangar/shop/flight line environments; may be exposed to high noise, fumes, electrical hazards, and varying weather conditions.
- May be required to lift objects up to 70 pounds and perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
- Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience in ejection seat maintenance and two (2) years recent egress system repair experience.
- Must have F-16A/B/C or D aircraft maintenance experience.
- Graduate of the Air Force F-16A/B/C or D Aircrew Egress System Specialist Technical School (T/M/S) or factory equivalent ejection seat course of instruction.
- Qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty.
- Familiar with Navy technical publications.
- Capable of conducting on-the-job training and maintenance of Contractor personnel seat/cockpit safety checkout training records; experienced in removal and replacement of ejection seats, canopies and explosive devices (I and O levels).
- Valid State Driver’s License.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions and special tools and test equipment.
- Must provide DD214 with Honorable Discharge if prior Military service.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required).
- Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
- Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
- FOD and TCP Awareness Training;
Security Clearance Awareness Training. - Program Awareness (COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2); ISO Program Awareness.
- NALCOMIS/OOMA or Air Force Aircraft Maintenance Management system familiarity.
- ESD Training;
Support Equipment Operator’s License (Tow Tractor, N2 Servicing Trailer, Mobile Start Unit). - Collateral Duty Inspector (in 2 T/M/S aircraft);
Egress System Checkout;
Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified. - Plane Captain Qualified;
Aircraft Towing Certified;
Aircraft Brake Rider Certified. - Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training;
Fuel Surveillance Training;
Engine Run (1 T/M/S minimum). - Troubleshooter/Final Checker Certified.
HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $54.47 (Hourly rate set by CBA). This position includes a competitive benefits package.
