Job position summary:
Performs assigned clerical functions and provides assistance to patients under the direction of a physician, therapist, or nursing staff.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
- Provide care as directed to achieve desired outcomes for patients newborn through geriatric.
- Perform clerical duties as directed.
- Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
- Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Required Education and Experience
:
High school graduate or equivalent (if position is at Horizons) - Required License/Certifications/Registrations
:
Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first. Kansas Driver's License (if position requires driving). Auto insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving).
- Preferred
Education and Experience:
Previous exposure to a medical environment. - Preferred License/Certifications/Registrations:
Certification as a MA, CNA, EMT, or HHA in the state of Kansas;
Phlebotomy Technician PBT (ASCP). - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Moderate computer skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; basic knowledge of medical terminology; ability to remain calm in stressful situations; compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.

Occasionally exerting up to 100 lbs; constantly exerting up to 20 lbs. 51-75% of the day may be standing or walking.
