This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.
Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and repair a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, and hydraulic equipment, including patient monitors, defibrillators, medical imaging equipment (X‑rays, CT scanners, ultrasound equipment), voice‑controlled operating tables, electric wheelchairs, and other sophisticated dental, optometric, and ophthalmic equipment.
- Perform routine scheduled maintenance to ensure all equipment is in working order.
- Perform safety checks and train practitioners to safely operate equipment.
- Disassemble equipment to locate causes of malfunctions or inaccuracies, repair or replace defective parts, reassemble equipment, and adjust precision components.
- Notify manufacturers or distributors of uncorrectable equipment malfunctions to arrange for repair.
- Keep extensive records of equipment checks, both for maintenance and repair.
- Maintain inventories and records of supplies and parts.
- May be required to complete work near patients and must avoid disturbing them.
- Document trouble and other reports, the work performed, and any system or configuration changes.
- Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments, tasks, and policy requirements.
- Understand and practice the precepts of the American Hospital Association’s Bill of Rights for patients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- At least 2 years of work experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
- Diploma, certificate, or associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Engineering (U.S. Military Biomedical Equipment Technician technical school training certification (4A2X1, 68A, or HM-8478) also qualifies).
- Training and experience repairing CT scanners and similar sophisticated equipment.
- Ability to work independently and positively within a team while maintaining professionalism.
- Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
- Adaptability to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements, including potential shift changes based on operational needs or command priorities.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond in a timely manner.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
- Current adjudicated Department of Homeland Security clearance.
- Bi‑lingual in Spanish and English.
- Work is typically performed in an interior/office environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
