Position Summary

We are offering a Per Diem position as an ED Tech. The role provides patient care support to RN’s and other healthcare providers, performing EKGs, starting IVs, splinting, and assisting with procedures as needed.

Core Functions
  • Under general supervision, perform assigned procedures such as electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, vital sign measurements, and specimen collection. Advanced skills may include blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, saline lock insertion, IV discontinuation, and bladder catheterization for adult and patients twelve years of age and older when delegated.
  • Set up and prepare patients for exam and minor surgical or health procedures within scope, including lumbar punctures, sterile instrument preparation, suturing lacerations, chest tube insertion, closed fracture reduction, gastric lavage, pelvic examinations, restraint application, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Apply orthopedic devices under physician direction.
  • Perform specimen collection and ensure accurate identification and integrity using appropriate techniques for all age criteria. Conduct point‑of‑care testing for blood glucose and other required tests, and perform quality control checks on equipment.
  • Provide communication and updates to RN, Physician, or other providers regarding patient reactions or changes, and accurately record information in the patient record, including vital signs and completed procedures.
  • Monitor supply stock levels, report needs, and coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, biomedical engineering, and other departments to maintain proper equipment and safety. Assist with health unit coordination and reception responsibilities as needed.
  • Attend department meetings and educational sessions; assist in orienting and training new ED Technicians.
  • Use problem‑solving skills and effective communication with patients, families, healthcare providers, and ancillary departments to provide quality patient care.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma/GED or equivalent knowledge.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Either Emergency Medical Technician–Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or certification, or a state‑licensed Certified Nursing Assistant.
    • Basic computer skills, effective written and verbal communication, and problem‑solving ability.
    Preferred Qualifications

    Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
