Job Summary
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a DRIVER in our Fallon Child Welfare office. Position requires a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment. Ability to properly install car seats/boosters for all ages and sizes of children. Transport may include parents, youth and small children or drug affected infants and social workers, or entire families. The transport can be to a variety of appointments that may be 20 minutes or take all day depending on appointment location, appointment waiting time, and transport back home or DCFS office.
Often transports are for parent/child and/or sibling visitation, transports across rural region for placement changes of foster homes, from school/preschool to daycare, families to medical appointments, resource centers, court hearings, counseling or evaluations, Social Security, Welfare, to schools for educational plan meetings, parents to drug testing, to meetings with attorneys, to court appearances, or to provide courier services by delivering supplies, equipment mail, reports, legal document and other items as required.
Other duties may include maintaining a spreadsheet to track maintenance of the offices fleet vehicles, mileage, and passengers transported, and other data for various reports. Provide administrative support to the office with routine duties as required and in accordance with established procedures; answer telephone and forward calls to appropriate staff; staff the information desk and have visitors sign in/out; assist the public by giving directions, answering questions, explaining rules, referring to the public to appropriate staff or providing necessary forms, etc.

Drivers operate various types of motor vehicles such as shuttle buses, automobiles, vans, or light trucks to transport people and/or materials to and from specified locations in accordance with established agency policies and safe driving practices.
Qualifications

Two years of motor vehicle driving experience.
Job DutiesPick up and transport individuals to and from university events, classes and/or meetings, laboratory appointments, x-ray facilities and/or doctor appointments; assist individuals with disabilities in getting in and out of the vehicle.
Provide courier services by picking up and/or delivering a variety of materials such as pharmacy supplies, x-rays, lab specimens and results, mail, reports, legal documents, bank deposits, and other items.
Clean exterior and interior of assigned vehicles by washing, vacuuming, and sweeping out as required.
Perform basic vehicle maintenance by checking and adding oil, gas, radiator coolant and windshield cleaning chemicals as needed; may change headlights/taillights; may perform pre-trip inspection of vehicle according to established procedures; report vehicle malfunctions and needed repairs according to established procedures.
Maintain records related to trip mileage, passengers transported, and other data for various reports.
Under general supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties described in the series concept.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of: defensive driving techniques;
State traffic laws and rules of the road; and safe and proper operation of a motor vehicle.
Ability to: operate vehicles such as vans and light trucks; maintain simple clerical records; perform basic vehicle maintenance; and read, understand, and follow city, county, and State maps.
