The Great Basin Institute, in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife, is recruiting to fill one (1) Invasive Species Maintenance Professional stationed within the Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge, under the direction of the Refuge Manager.
The technician will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the native seed farming program and invasive species management at the refuge. This individual should have some knowledge of land management, farming, or a general understanding of maintenance work.
Primary Responsibilities- Plant propagation
- Integrated pest management
- Irrigation
- Heavy equipment operation
- General maintenance tasks
- Starting beginning of May 2026; 52 weeks; possibility of extension, pending successful completion of DOI Background Investigation
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge – Located near Fallon, NV.
Compensation$21 hourly

Shared housing is available on site at the refuge, managed by USFWS.
Qualifications- Enthusiasm about the position, with interest in learning or knowledge of land management, habitat restoration and conservation of Great Basin ecosystems
- Familiarity with native and invasive plants of northern Nevada and the Great Basin region
- Practical experience with general labor and maintenance assignments including fence building or repair, ATV/UTV operation, small engine repair, farm equipment operation and maintenance, herbicide application, and general field/farm labor
- Ability to safely work in an outdoor setting with varying environmental conditions and hazards
- Excellent time management and problem‑solving skills
- Reliable, team-player with strong leadership and communication skills
- Possession of a clean, valid, state-issued driver’s license
