Position Location

This position is located onsite in Fallon, Nevada.

Job Overview

Provides Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping Services including lawn maintenance, vegetation removal, and debris removal for ground parcels designated as improved, semi‑improved, unimproved areas and prestige areas to ensure a slight appearance. Services include mowing, trimming, edging, irrigation system maintenance, fertilization, aeration and weed control.

Responsibilities
  • Mow lawns with walking‑type or riding mowers, aerate and remove thatch to maintain lawn health and neat appearance.
  • Apply fertilizer, weed killer, and necessary pesticides in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Use a blower and manually pick up trash, leaves, limbs to keep the grounds clean and neat.
  • Use a weed eater to pull weeds and maintain flower beds; rake and backfill mounds and holes created by burrowing animals to restore appearance and inspect for rodent activity.
  • Trim and prune hedges, shrubs, and trees, edge around walks, flower beds, buildings, and walls using hedge trimmers, clippers, shears, and/or saws to maintain overall landscape appearance.
  • Maintain outdoor artificial turf and xeriscape areas to ensure neatness.
  • Control undesired vegetation.
  • Maintain Nature Trail to ensure grounds present a neat appearance and do not interfere with operations.
  • Assist in maintaining, repairing, and/or replacing irrigation systems and read water meters.
  • May monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure that vegetation is properly irrigated.
  • Monitor equipment and report any malfunctions or other issues.
  • Travel between facilities and work locations as required; may be required to drive company pick‑up or small dump truck.
  • May complete basic paperwork and calculate materials and time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist other departments as required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and accurately track material resources and time, adapting to changing work priorities.
  • Maintain tools and equipment within possession.
  • Use PPE when required.
  • Perform daily cleaning of assigned work spaces.
  • Perform duties in a timely, cost‑effective manner with flexibility due to schedule changes, work duration and tasks.
  • Work closely and harmoniously with fellow workers.
  • Adhere to all Safety and Health rules and regulations.
Job Requirements
  • One year of work experience in grounds maintenance with knowledge of ground maintenance standards, techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to identify and work safely with appropriate manual and power tools, mechanical and electrical equipment for the assigned task.
  • Capable of understanding and following directions from a lead/supervisor.
  • Capable of passing a background check for a CAC Card and/or drug test as required by the contract.
  • Possess a valid state‑issued driver’s license.
  • Possess an OSHA 10 card or have the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to comprehend, read, speak, and write proficiently in English.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively and professionally on a team with various skill levels and diverse backgrounds, demonstrating good customer service skills.
Working Conditions
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for long periods of time while working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Physical requirements involve bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and shoveling.
  • Capable of lifting up to 70 lbs. and carrying a 20‑lb backpack blower.
  • Work hours are subject to change, with overtime as needed.
  • Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
