GSE Technician - VMG

Job Summary

GSE Mechanic performs organizational and intermediate level maintenance on assigned support equipment under contract to Amentum.

• Utilize Maintenance Instruction Manuals, Maintenance Requirement Cards, Illustrated Parts Breakdown Manuals, schematics, and blueprints to maintain, service, repair, troubleshoot, inspect, and modify electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components of support equipment.
• Document all maintenance history using OPNAV 4790/52 (Support Equipment History and Maintenance Record).
• Perform tasks independently in hazardous areas such as aircraft operation ramps and flight lines.
• Ensure all maintenance actions comply with government safety, OSHA standards, and Environmental Protection Agency rules.
• Perform preventative maintenance duties as directed by written and verbal instructions.
• Prioritize workloads, maintain schedules, and mentor lower classification level employees in proper work methods and performance of duties.
• Assist other shop/skill groups as required and perform related duties of lower rated technical personnel.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Four years U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps/U.S. Coast Guard O-level CNAFINST 4790.2 series aircraft maintenance support experience.
• Secret U.S. Government clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain one). U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position in accordance with NAVAIRINST 3710.1 series, including standing, walking, manual lifting >50 pounds, ladder work, and working at heights up to 40 feet.

• Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
• Must manually lift or move weights greater than 50 pounds.
• Ladder work and heights at or above 40 feet are required.
• Must work outdoors in weather conditions on aircraft flight lines and ramps.
• Must interact with other personnel within and outside the department to resolve related problems.

Hourly rate: $50.45 (hourly rate set by CBA). This position includes a competitive benefits package.
