NV Business/Career Hubs. The position is an underfill of a Workforce Services Rep 2. The incumbent will progress to the next level upon meeting minimum qualifications and the approval of the appointing authority. This Workforce Services Representative 1 position will serve in the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program. They will be responsible for scheduling and completing both initial and follow‑up appointments in the RESEA program.
The program assists unemployed Nevadans gain employment and provides basic navigation for the unemployment system. People in this position provide employment services, both in person and virtually, to job seekers and employers by registering job seekers in the Employ
NV system, evaluating education, training and work history and assessing qualifications for referrals to business customers. Services provided include help with creating and updating resumes, skills testing and typing tests, job search planning and assisting clients with locating opportunities in the Employ
NV system. This position also serves as a back‑up for other office programs as required and the successful candidate may also be required to perform other duties as assigned. Basic computer and customer service skills are a requirement for this position. The ideal candidate will type a minimum of 30 wpm and have intermediate to advanced level skills in Excel. A valid Nevada driver's license and transportation to conduct outreach and attend meetings in rural areas are required.
Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Interview customers to elicit information regarding education, training, work experience and occupational goals or interests; assist customers in registering for services.
- Search current job listings and screen job‑seeking customers to ensure education and experience meet job‑order specifications.
- Contact businesses on behalf of job seekers; refer qualified customers to businesses and verify referral results.
- Provide information and referrals to programmes available in the community; identify customers eligible for assistance through the Trade Readjustment Act, the Career Enhancement Program or veterans services; gather required information and make appropriate referrals to community‑based services, partner services or other federal programmes.
- Assist customers to use the resource centre’s automated equipment to search for employment on the Internet, access career/employer statistics and information, use interest and skills assessment and training software, and prepare resumes and cover letters; provide explanations understandable to the customer regarding procedures and resource centre usage.
- Advise job seekers on results of self‑assessment tests and career direction options; suggest training and other resources to assist in career pursuit; edit and proof resumes; identify obstacles to employment and coach job‑seeking customers regarding the application process, job interviews and other job search skills.
- Conduct individual or group orientation sessions to inform customers of programmes and services available; answer inquiries from the public and employers regarding workforce investment services and programmes.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Under close supervision, incumbents receive classroom and on‑the‑job training in the duties described in the series concept for their relevant program area. This is a trainee level in the series which provides for progression to the next level upon satisfactory completion of the required training period, meeting minimum qualifications, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.
