Plane Captain - VMG

Job Overview

The Plane Captain is responsible for aircraft handling, servicing, inspections, and support operations. The role encompasses duties of both Aircraft Washer and Plane Captain Helper classifications, ensuring aircraft readiness and safety during launch and recovery operations.

• Perform daily and turnaround inspections per applicable procedures.
• Initiate and complete maintenance forms.
• Conduct aircraft fuel sampling and servicing as required.
• Launch and recover aircraft, serving as aircraft taxi director.
• Tow aircraft and act as brake rider when needed.
• Tie down and cover aircraft following established procedures.
• Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction.
• Utilize two‑way communication equipment.
• Ensure compliance with FOD, hazardous waste, egress familiarization, and tool control programs.
• Adhere to all general and industrial safety rules applicable to the contract and job assignment.
• Maintain safety, security, and preservation of government and company equipment.
• Deliver courteous and professional customer service.
• Operate portable firefighting equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work center.
• Perform additional job‑related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in aviation maintenance and/or flight line operations.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any necessary government or company licenses, certifications, and clearances.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable safety and maintenance manuals.
• Understanding of aircraft flight line operations, handling, servicing, marshaling, common hand tools, and normal operational safety requirements.
• Physical capability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, and reach above shoulder level; pull or push up to 70 pounds.
• Clear vision (color, peripheral, depth perception) and hearing within normal range.
• Completion of required training program and certification as a plane captain, with re‑qualification semi‑annually.
• Eligibility to obtain a Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required).
• Qualified on all assigned Technical/Medical/Safety (T/M/S) duties.
• Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

• Experience with F‑18 (A‑F), EA‑18G, E‑2C, F‑16, and/or MH‑60.
• Hazardous Waste Communications Training.
• FOD and TCP Awareness Training.
• ISO 9001‑2000 Program Awareness.
• Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
• Licensing on support equipment (tow tractor, nitrogen servicing cart, engine wash cart, engine start unit, etc.).
• Experience handling hazardous materials in assigned duties.
• Proficient eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity; respirator use if required.

Hourly Rate: $50.66 (Hourly rate set by CBA)
