Position Overview

The Construction Project Manager will provide office-based project management support with occasional field visits to ensure that project schedules, contractor coordination, and client communications are executed smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing several concurrent residential infill projects at various stages of development.

  • Maintain overall project schedules and update stakeholders weekly on progress, bottlenecks, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and permitting offices to keep work flowing without delays.
  • Respond promptly to client emails regarding project status, design coordination, anticipated timelines, and change management.
  • Assist with procurement, contract administration, and documentation, including RFI tracking, submittal review, and meeting notes.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, permitting requirements, and residential construction best practices.
  • Maintain internal project dashboards, budgets, and reporting tools.
Field Support (Occasional Site Visits)
  • Visit job sites periodically to verify progress, identify issues early, and ensure contractors are performing work to standard.
  • Capture site photos and create concise field reports for internal and client use.
  • Confirm site conditions align with plans, especially when coordinating BMP Stormwater Management work, utility connections, and inspections.
  • Work with superintendents or field leads (if applicable) to resolve on-site challenges that may impact schedule or cost.
Qualifications
  • 2-5+ years of construction project management experience; residential experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Northern Virginia permitting, inspections, and local site development practices is a strong plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with homeowners and clients.
  • Proficiency with project management, scheduling software and Microsoft office.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Ideal Candidate Attributes
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through.
  • Comfortable in a professional client-facing role.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts with the ability to anticipate next steps.
  • Understands the nuances and pace of infill construction (tight sites, neighbor coordination, logistics challenges).
  • Balances office productivity with effective boots-on-the-ground observation when required.
Why Join DeMarr Construction?
