Job Description:

Join our award-winning HITT Futures Program as a Preconstruction Department Intern to kickstart your career at a top national general contractor. If you are passionate about construction, eager to learn from industry leaders, and ready to be a part of a team committed to elevating the business of building, our top-ranked Internship Program is the perfect opportunity to invest in your future as a commercial construction superintendent or project manager.

Our competitively-paid internship prepares you for success through individual mentorship, hands-on learning, professional networking events, career development courses, and personal growth opportunities over an immersive 10-week experience from May to August.

Responsibilities

* Support the preconstruction team with subcontractor and supplier pricing efforts for budgets and bids

* Assist the preconstruction team with evaluating design documents, including plans and specifications. Also attending internal team meetings and client walkthroughs

* Perform take-offs to quantify building materials to be included in preconstruction budgets and estimates

* Assist the preparation of trade scope packages, helping to solicit, level and post subcontractor bids with preconstruction team

* Join jobsite tours with preconstruction team to listen, learn and ask questions regarding multiple trade disciplines with operations superintendents and project management teams

* Actively participate in social and networking events, weekly training and educational classes, and HITT corporate responsibility activities

Qualifications

* Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university within the construction, engineering, or business concentrations

* Previous industry internship, volunteer work, or work experiences is a plus

* Passion for construction and general contracting industry

* Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program

* Ability to successfully manage multiple, competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment

* Demonstrated ability to learn project-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office 365 (ex. Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), Procore, Adobe, and Blue Beam

* Exceptional customer and client focus with ability to succeed in a team environment

* Strong written and verbal communications skills
