Credit Recovery Academy - English Language Development Teacher

Summary

Plans and implements a Credit Recovery Academy summer program; works in a collaborative team setting to individualize instruction for Multilingual Learner (ML) students; utilizes best practices in teaching to achieve curriculum goals; manages student behavior; aligns instruction with WIDA Instructional Resources (Language Expectations, Performance Level Descriptors, etc.); follows pre-designed lessons, activities, and maintains appropriate pacing; collaborates with other summer program teachers to plan and facilitate Project-based Learning;

maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, regulation, and policy.

Qualifications

Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education with an endorsement in English as a Second Language, PreK-12. Experience in teaching English Language Development curriculum preferred. Experience in establishing and monitoring individualized student goals, preferred. Knowledge of the instructional practices, techniques, and materials pertaining to the assigned teaching specialty; knowledge of WIDA standards; proficiency in technology; strong communication and interpersonal skills;

ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and varied skill levels in a collaborative learning environment.
