IT Systems Engineer - Falls Church, VA

Overview

We are seeking an IT-oriented System Engineer 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As a member of the SES Strategic Business Unit, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for designing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and securing complex resilient hardware and virtualized infrastructure to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs, standards, and performance requirements.

• Work closely with stakeholders to gather technical requirements, architect solutions, execute on deliverables, and communicate solutions to the entire technical program team and end‑customer stakeholders.
• Drive the analysis, evaluation, engineering, and implementation of system improvements, automation, optimization, and deployments.
• Develop designs and architectural changes to infrastructure environments including physical/logical drawings, engineering design plans, implementation plans, transition plans, test plans, and failover plans.
• Perform security updates to hardware and software to ensure the security posture across all systems implemented and managed.

• U.S. Citizen with adjudicated U.S. Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of progressive experience. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, or a related Engineering/IT discipline.
• Experience eliciting requirements, conducting research, designing, testing, and implementing hardware and software solutions for virtual infrastructure technologies.
• Engineering experience with VMware ESXi and vSphere, Microsoft Windows Server Deployment and Administration, Microsoft Windows 11 Deployment and Administration, DNS, DFS, DHCP, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Key Management Service (KMS), Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
• Experience performing security scans, system updates, and applying security configurations such as DISA STIG/SRGs to hardware and software.
• Experience virtualizing enterprise applications (Active Directory, MS SQL, RHEL, MS SharePoint, etc.).
• Experience with API management, scripting (Power Shell, Python, JSON, Bash).
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level‑II requirements.
• Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong time management, organization skills, and proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.

• Experience administering OCSP (e.g., Axway Validation Authority, Microsoft OCSP Responder).
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing the Trellix security product suite (Endpoint Security, DLP, HIPS).
• Experience designing and deploying SQL Database infrastructure such as Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience engineering and implementing platforms and services in a software‑defined network environment.
• Vendor certifications such as VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, Net App.
