Job DescriptionInova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Central Processing Specialist to join the team! This position will be Full-time Night Shift: Monday to Friday, rotating weekend 10:00pm-6:30am

Laboratory Central Processing Specialist
Job Responsibilities
- Takes appropriate action when diagnosis code is missing/fails and responds appropriately to ABN.
- Prioritizes specimens after collection or as they arrive in the Laboratory or on pending lists; distributes and/or prepares specimens according to special requirements while prioritizing delivery to departments or outsourced labs.
- Acts as a liaison and department resource for staff, customers and/or patients; demonstrates an expanded knowledge of technical and administrative tasks beyond normal technical operations.
- Oversees inventory and ordering of approved supplies for section; maintains adequate supplies and uses department resources efficiently. Avoids urgent supply requests and inventory loss due to expiration.
- Maintains current knowledge of methods for blood, urine, stool and culture collections while explaining specimen collection protocols to patients, nurses and physicians as required.

- Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Years of
Experience:- Four years of relevant experience in a clinical lab environment
- Two years at Inova lab
