Construction Recruiter

Job Description

HITT is seeking a Construction Recruiter to join our growing recruitment team and support our expanding national footprint. This role may be based out of our Headquarters in Falls Church, VA or in our Dallas, TX regional office. The Construction Recruiter will support full cycle recruiting efforts and manage candidates throughout the interview and selection process for positions across the organization, with a primary focus on core construction hiring within our Operations and Site Operations employee groups, as well as business unit resource functions as required.

The ideal candidate is energized by a fast‑paced, high-volume, high-performance environment and is committed to delivering a best-in‑class candidate experience. This role reports directly to the Recruiting Manager at HITT and offers an opportunity to grow within a collaborative, construction‑focused recruitment team.

HITT, founded in 1937 as a small family business, has grown into one of the nation’s top 10 largest general contractors. With deep roots in the Washington, DC area and a rapidly expanding presence across the United States, HITT’s growth is driven by our clients and built on strong, lasting relationships with partners and subcontractors. Today, our 2,200+ construction professionals deliver a full range of services, including base building construction, renovations, corporate interior fit‑outs, service, and emergency work.

With annual revenues of $13 billion, HITT is about more than construction—we are building dreams, shaping possibilities, and defining the places where people live, work, and connect.

Responsibilities
  • Support high‑volume, full cycle recruiting for core construction and select supporting business roles across HITT’s national footprint, from sourcing through offer.
  • Recruit for Operations (Project Management) roles — positions that lead the planning, coordination, contract/financial oversight, and overall delivery of construction projects, from supporting the project team with documentation and coordination through managing entire projects and client/account leadership (Construction Assistant through Project Executive).
  • Recruit for Site Operations (Field Leadership) roles — positions that lead on‑site execution, including day‑to‑day field supervision, safety/quality enforcement, schedule and logistics coordination, and overall jobsite leadership on increasingly complex projects (Assistant Superintendent through Site Operations Executive).
  • Support recruiting for key business unit resource functions, including MEP, Quality Control, Safety, and Preconstruction.
  • Deliver a best‑in‑class candidate experience by providing clear role and process expectations, timely and consistent communication, thoughtful interview coordination, and a professional, inclusive experience from first outreach through offer decision.
  • Work directly with hiring managers to understand immediate staffing needs, screen candidates, and coordinate interview schedules.
  • Create and manage requisitions in Workday, including posting roles and maintaining accurate job and candidate data.
  • Proactively source candidates through job boards, networking, referrals, outreach, and diversity recruiting initiatives.
  • Maintain strong candidate engagement by communicating regularly throughout the interview and selection process and providing timely updates.
  • Coordinate and conduct reference checks and assist with pre‑employment screening as needed.
  • Support offer administration by preparing and delivering verbal and written offers for exempt and non‑exempt roles and maintaining accurate recruiting records in Workday ATS.
  • Assist the Recruiting Manager with talent pipeline development, employer branding activities, and recruiting metrics reporting.
  • Help ensure hiring practices comply with federal and state employment laws, including EEO and OFCCP…
