Cyber Risk and Compliance Specialist – Artificial Intelligence Governance
Responsible for supporting GDIT’s AI Governance processes. This role combines technical AI research expertise with practical governance oversight to ensure responsible AI deployment across our organization.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTAs a Cyber Risk and Compliance Specialist – Artificial Intelligence Governance, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the organization by ensuring responsible, secure, and compliant deployment of AI systems. You will play a crucial role in supporting GDIT’s AI Governance processes by bridging technical AI research with practical oversight.
- Lead, manage, and support identification and assessment of cybersecurity vulnerabilities within AI systems and ensure security protocols are implemented across AI model training, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with the Artificial Intelligence & Data team and cross‑functional governance committees to guide secure, ethical, and compliant AI initiatives.
- Drive organizational compliance with internal policies, emerging AI laws, and regulatory frameworks by developing governance frameworks, assessment tools, and documentation that evaluate AI system capabilities and risk profiles.
- Utilize AI/ML expertise, cybersecurity principles, and knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800‑171, NIST AI RMF, GDPR, and data privacy standards.
- Education:
BS degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related technical field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). - Experience:
5+ years of hands‑on experience in AI/ML research or applied AI development. - Technical skills:
Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning architectures, AI safety concepts; foundation in cybersecurity; knowledge of regulatory frameworks and AI ethics. - Role requirements:

Work Location:
Hybrid; requires 3 days per week onsite at GDIT office in Falls Church, VA.
