The Tahirih Justice Center (Tahirih) is a national, nonprofit organization that serves women, girls, and all immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, forced marriage, and other forms of violence. Tahirih’s whole-person approach provides each survivor with free legal support and social services to secure the rights they are entitled to under U.S. law and to build stable lives. Tahirih translates expertise gained from serving our clients for almost thirty years into training, education, and policy advocacy to ensure that systems, laws, and policies protect immigrant survivors from violence and exploitation.
By amplifying survivors' experiences, Tahirih’s mission is to create a world in which all people share equal rights and live in safety and with dignity.
The Tahirih Justice Center is seeking a full-time Bahá’í Service Fellow passionate for advocating and supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, trafficking, and sexual assault to begin in summer 2026 and serve for one year. The fellow must live within commuting distance of our Falls Church, VA office or be willing to relocate to the area.
Tahirih’s Bahá’í Service Fellowships were created to enable Fellows to engage in one year of service to humanity and learn from the work of a well-established, Bahá’í-inspired, non-profit organization. The fellows who serve in these positions help advance the organization’s mission through meaningful professional work to achieve justice while also being of service in cooperation with the local Bahá’í community through outreach and engagement (up to 8 hours per week).
PrimaryResponsibilities
This position will be supervised by the Communications Manager and will support our national communications team through the following:
- Support events and webinars with planning, promotion, and logistics.
- Draft compelling digital content, including social media, email, video, and web content, that reflects the Tahirih voice and is consistent with the organization’s messaging, brand, and style guidelines.
- Adapt content across platforms and formats to maximize reach, relevance, and engagement for different audiences.
- Create clear, informative graphics, videos, charts and other visual elements in the proper format and brand style to maximize reach and engagement.
- Own the day-to-day operations of Tahirih’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In.
- Develop and manage content calendars to ensure timely delivery of digital and social content aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns.
- Coordinate closely with the Communications team and staff across the organization to create timely, accurate content that supports Tahirih’s policy, program, communications, and fundraising objectives.
- Monitor social media channels for engagement and relevant conversations, responding or escalating as appropriate in coordination with the Communications team.
- Track and analyze performance of digital and social content, using insights to refine approaches and improve engagement and growth over time.
- Contribute to the development and execution of Tahirih’s digital strategy, offering recommendations to strengthen growth, engagement, and impact across digital communications channels.
The fellows will also perform service in cooperation with the local Bahá’í community in which they are living for the duration of the fellowship for up to eight hours per week. The nature of the service will depend on the experience and interests of the Fellow and the activities, opportunities and plans in the local Bahá’í community. The specific service will be selected in consultation with appropriate Bahá’í institutions but may include engaging in social action projects, facilitating or studying within the Institute process, and/or attending conferences and gatherings in which Bahá’í youth social action is explored.
The fellows’ workload at the organization will accommodate time set aside for such community engagement.
