Job Description:

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Intermediate Cardiac Care Unit. This full‑time role is scheduled for nights (7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) with rotating weekends (every 3rd weekend) and holiday rotations (2 per year). Sign‑on and relocation bonuses are available for eligible nurses.

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
• Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Conduct all patient care in a patient‑ and family‑centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet patient and family needs throughout the continuum of care.
• Advocate for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provide counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
• Access resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
• Document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
• Evaluate the process to achieve outcomes, anticipate patient variances, and make revisions to plans of care.
• Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making among all team members.

• Education: BSN or AD. If RN has an AD, within 2 years from date of hire, the RN must meet with their nurse leader and ① identify the accredited school they plan to attend, ② provide a written plan with an anticipated BSN completion date, ③ submit a review of transcripts indicating required prerequisites and a timeline for taking the courses, and ④ complete the BSN within 5 years of the start date.
• Experience: 1 year as a Registered Nurse in a critical care unit, or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Certification: BLS & ACLS from the American Heart Association; licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license.

• Experience: Telemetry, med/surg; if outpatient – must have cardiac experience; if inpatient – must have a strong foundation.
• Other: Open to feedback/learning, and possesses a positive mindset, strong bedside manner, strong emotional intelligence/people connection, and strong conversational skills.
