Registered Nurse; RN Unit Supervisor EmPATH Psychiatric Observation Nights

Inova Fairfax Hospital is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated RN Unit Supervisor to join our EmPATH Psychiatric Observation Unit on the night shift. This is a full-time position with a 3 x 12‑hour shift schedule (7:00 pm to 7:30 am). We welcome Registered Nurses who are enthusiastic about working with the psychiatric patient population and are eager to make a positive impact in this specialty.

Therapeutic group activities, including creative art therapy, are an integral part of our patient‑centered approach. The average nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 6:1, ensuring that you can provide personalized care to those who need it most.

• Staffing
• Patient review and placement
• Serve as a resource to Charge Nurse and staff
• Respond to all events on units
• Assist with orientation
• Conduct chart and environmental audits per Joint Commission standards
• Coaching and education of staff
• Act as Charge Nurse or take patients if needed
• Float to Behavioral Health Emergency Department PODs as required

• Certification:
  Basic Life Support; completion of a revised Charge Nurse workshop within 3 months of hire.
• Licensure:
  Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Experience:
  
  1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or Associate’s Degree RN within 1 year of completing their BSN).

• Former psychiatric experience strongly preferred.
