Registered Nurse; RN Women's Surgical Specialty Unit

Job Description:

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Women’s Surgical Specialty Unit. This role will be full‑time day shift: 3x12 hour shifts per week, 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

• Performs comprehensive health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets.
• Develops individualized care plans based on patient assessments and population trends.
• Delivers patient care in a patient‑centered manner.
• Advocates for patient rights and provides counsel to resolve issues.
• Accesses multidisciplinary resources for patient outcomes and coordinates transition planning.
• Documents all patient care activities according to standards.
• Evaluates care processes, anticipates patient variances, and revises care plans accordingly.
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient data, and intuition.
• Fosters effective communication and cooperation with clinical teams.
• Assesses and measures patient education needs and outcomes.
• Provides mentorship, guidance, and direction to staff, including preceptorship and delegation of care activities.
• Ensures care delivery aligns with standards, guidelines, and collaborative processes.
• Pursues professional development by obtaining continuing education.
• Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement.

• Experience:
  
  Required 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship.
• Education:
  
  BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If an RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN), must complete a BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Certification:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start. For Critical Care Units:
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within 6 months. For Pediatric Units:
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months. For Infusion Center Units:
  Obtain chemo card within 3 months of hire.
• Licensure:
  Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi‑state Registered Nurse license.

• Recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience on an inpatient med/surge unit.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
