Position: Athletic Training Instructor (0.1 FTE) - Falmouth High School (Anticipated Fall 2026)

Athletic Training Instructor

Falmouth High School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Athletic Training Instructor to teach a specialized elective course beginning in the  school year. This position is ideal for an educator or athletic training professional passionate about supporting students interested in sports medicine, health sciences, fitness, physical therapy, and related career pathways. The Athletic Training Instructor will teach a course focused on foundational concepts in athletic training, sports medicine, and human anatomy and physiology.

Instruction will include both classroom-based learning and practical application opportunities designed to promote student engagement, skill development, and career readiness. Coursework will focus on First Aid and CPR, Emergency Procedures, Anatomy and Physiology, Injury Evaluation and Treatment. Students will examine the musculoskeletal and integumentary systems of the human body while learning foundational techniques for preventing and treating common athletic injuries.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with course outcomes and district expectations
  • Provide hands-on learning opportunities related to athletic training and sports medicine
  • Teach safe and appropriate use of introductory athletic training techniques and procedures
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically supportive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with physical education, health sciences, nursing, athletic, and student support staff as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress effectively

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is passionate about teaching and has genuine concern for students' academic growth and character development
  • Has a strong educational background and/or professional experience in athletic training, sports medicine, physical therapy, exercise science, or related fields
  • Possesses the ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
  • Possesses strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Supports an inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all students

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold or be eligible for:
    Maine Physical Education Teacher Certification, or Athletic Training licensure/certification with eligibility for teaching certification or conditional certification
  • Preferred qualifications include: CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Experience in athletic training, sports medicine, coaching, physical therapy, or related health fields
  • Experience teaching or mentoring adolescents

Compensation &

Schedule:

This is a 0.1 FTE teaching position with compensation aligned with the negotiated teacher contract and proportional to FTE assignment (this position is conditional upon funding).
