High School English Language Arts and Theater Teacher

Falmouth High School is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time dual certified ELA and Theater teacher starting in the  academic year. This is for a maximum of a two-year position. This individual will teach five sections of student-centered classes designed to develop creative, analytical thinkers, researchers, and problem solvers who have a deep understanding of and appreciation for English language arts and supporting courses in the theater arts.

Other full-time faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor, supporting independent student learning initiatives, and taking an active role in the school community in support of student learning and wellness. Falmouth teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional learning, authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff, and regular goal-setting and reflection.

The ideal candidate:

• is passionate about teaching and has genuine concern for students' academic growth and character development
• has a strong educational background and teaching experience in 9th - 12th grade classrooms
• experiences teaching AP courses and theater productions preferred
• is capable of teaching a broad spectrum of ELA and theater classes and excited by the prospect of interdisciplinary instruction in the future
• has a demonstrated history of employing innovative pedagogies that are grounded in strong understanding adolescent development and learning theory
• possesses the ability to differentiate instruction and help students master the subject matter despite different skill levels or ages
• confidently integrates technology to advance education in the classroom
• prioritizes positive collegial interactions and collaborative relationships with other teachers
• possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
• is culturally competent and supports diverse learners

Qualifications:

Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the appropriate valid Maine teacher certifications for English Language Arts and Theater for grades 9-12. Experience teaching is preferred. The candidate must have an approved background check (run by the district).

Wage and Benefits:
