We are seeking a Commercial Support Engineer to communicate with and aid our upstream customers in daily operations to further the success of our departments and Southworth International Group, Inc. (SIGI). Acting as a point of contact, this role will interface with the Commercial team (Sales, Marketing, Estimating, Warranty and Parts) to provide engineering support outside of the daily workflow.

SIGI is the world’s largest manufacturer of ergonomic material handling equipment for vertical lifting and work positioning. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sales:
    Work with Quality Team to identify design deficiencies and implement process improvement initiatives to increase design accuracy and overall quality. Provide training to Design Engineers as needed
  • Commercial / Process Support:
    Work with Commercial Team to train on Engineering processes and procedures
  • Training:
    Work with Commercial Team to train on Engineering processes and procedures. Provide training and support to engineering department to facilitate the understanding of Commercial Teams processes
  • Process Improvement – Establish a database of inquiries and response to create a self-service portal for questions asked and answered to better support the team
  • Purchasing support – Aid Purchasing to resolve issues with obsolete items and long lead components
  • Design Standards – Help identify design elements that will become the standard design, facilitate communications upstream to facilitate Commercial concurrence and input to process
  • CPQ Support:
    Act as a liaison between departments to ensure Engineering interests are represented in the CPQ process and define standards for implementation into the configurator
  • IRA Support:
    Create attributes in IRA as needed for mapping within the CPQ configurator
Qualifications – Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience in an engineering role
  • Proficient computer skills – especially Microsoft Suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and sales operational systems. Tableau and Jira preferred
  • Knowledge of Drive Works, PDM environments and current Commercial processes
  • Proven track record in design excellence and creative problem‑solving skills with regards to machine design and selection to meet customer needs
