Why This Role ExistsThe Tax Manager bridges high-level technical tax preparation and review with intentional team leadership and client relationship management. This role exists to oversee the execution of accurate tax filings, mentor junior staff, and partner directly with the Principal to ensure seamless operations and client satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing- Manage and review Federal and State tax returns for both individual and business clients to ensure strict compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare complex federal, state, and specialized tax filings independently and without direct oversight.
- Mentor and develop tax accountants, acting as an intentional team leader to build their skills and support their career growth.
- Communicate project status proactively with clients, peers, and the Principal to keep all stakeholders aligned.
- Research technical answers for complex client tax questions, translating intricate tax codes into clear, actionable advice.
- Collaborate with the Principal to balance workloads, meet critical deadlines, and identify operational improvements.
Must-Haves:
- 5-7 years of proven experience working in public accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
- Significant experience reviewing both individual and business tax returns.
- Strong team leader or mentorship experience with a passion for developing staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills, bringing a big-picture operational view alongside a sharp attention to detail.
- High proficiency with tax software, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Active CPA license highly preferred.
- Experience or interest in networking and bringing in new client accounts to maximize commission potential.
- Experience with CCH Axcess tax software
$95,000 - $105,000 / year depending on experience
