Our Massachusetts-based civil construction firm specializing in highway and runway infrastructure is seeking a Civil Construction Office Engineer to support civil construction projects through survey coordination, CAD production, estimating support, and technical documentation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring construction projects are accurately planned, modeled, and executed using GPS and CAD technologies.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong in AutoCAD, and comfortable collaborating with project managers, estimators, survey crews, and external design firms in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare accurate and detailed CAD drawings, including site layouts and surface models for construction projects
- Convert engineering CAD or PDF drawings into GPS-ready working files (DXF) for construction equipment
- Develop complete construction DXF, surface, and point files to meet project needs and deliverables
- Provide project managers and estimators with earthwork quantities and material take-offs for bidding purposes
- Manage and maintain construction project CAD files
- Coordinate with design firms to obtain required CAD files for GPS field layout and grading
- Review CAD and PDF drawings to verify accuracy of survey control, point data, and design information
- Support survey field crews with data uploads and downloads
- Perform routine design work using standard civil engineering principles
- Participate in professional development activities and assist with mentoring team members
- Associate degree in computer drafting or engineering technology and 5 years of relevant experience in CAD, estimating, land surveying, and/or field operations
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD experience in civil construction
- Understanding of estimating processes and AutoCAD design functions
- Knowledge of civil infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage, and utilities
- Ability to read and interpret consultant drawings and technical reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license
- OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain (OSHA 30 preferred)
- Experience with estimating software such as Bid2
Win and AGTEK Earthworks - Additional certifications including competent person, excavation/trenching, first aid/CPR, and fall protection
